I had fun leading a discussion group on publishing children’s books at @ Chanticleer Author’s Conference today. Met some great independent authors. I learned as much as I shared. We discussed process, working with various people in the authoring workflow including illustrators; navigating and implementing creative direction; roles in the process; the development of AI as it relates to illustration and publishing.
The 2026 Chanticleer Authors Conference (CAC26) took place April 16–19, 2026, at the Holiday Inn North in Bellingham, WA. The event featured workshops, networking, and the 2025 Chanticleer International Book Awards (CIBA) banquet, offering expert-led sessions on writing craft, marketing, and publishing for independent authors.
