My opinion: AI is not the problem. AI is a tool. Human beings are the problem, human beings injecting themselves into the intention of AI is the problem. humans are largely driven by economy and capitalism. Human values are always undercut and in contention with the pursuit of wealth.
However civilization moves forward from now on, with this introduction of AI, it doesn’t matter if we assign blame to the technology or the humans that created it. We’re going to live with the outcomes.
I ask AI random questions. I’ll ask ChatGPT existential questions about itself. Google AI is actually very capable, I ask AI what it’s up to.
Grok, Elon Musk’s AI model, is an example of how the technology can be corrupted quickly with the ideology of the programmers that engineer it. It’s nothing like it was six months ago, it’s garbage now. It’s a joke, it’s become politically skewed. Corrupted like everything else.
When I ask AI advice, as many will attest to having done so on ChatGPT, often the answers are astonishing.
The answers that you get from AI are not coming from “artificial intelligence.” AI is accessing and processing the breadth and scope of human history and experience. It processes the entirety of human knowledge. AI is not making shit up. It didn’t earn a doctorate in psychology, it is able to amass the opinions of thousands of psychologists in seconds.
and it is very likely interjecting as much information about me and my behaviors that it gathers, into the answer it gives me to my questions.
I think we are in a small window of time, what I’ll call a miniature “golden age” of humans utilizing AI and creative and productive ways. They’re still a lot of fascination and wonder, and it’s still accessible to people. In a positive sense, AI is creating a democratization or accessibility to knowledge and art and creativity and realms of experience that weren’t available before.
It has the capability to solve a lot of problems. Many think it will open doorways to solving and curing diseases.
The problem with that is, we live in a capitalistic society, with medical systems and drug companies that are heavily invested in each of us being sick and subscribing to drugs and procedures that we don’t need. The medical industry doesn’t want there to be a cure for cancer, I guarantee you.
If we were able to clear all diseases, there is no pharmaceutical industry. There is no medical industrial complex.
It’s going to get out of hand, and it will be driven by capitalism.
I’ve used the technology since it’s inception. I was very resistant to it, I’ve used it mainly with imagery. more recently, I have used it for planning, for research, for brainstorming, sandboxing ideas and development.
The rate of development has been astonishing. I can look at images that I created in November 2025, and can compare them to now, and it’s ridiculous how much better the quality of imagery and animation is, in such a short span of time. We’ve never seen technology for the masses accelerate and evolve at this kind of rate.
as an artist, it’s a fascinating tool. There’s an element of democratization to creativity with AI, it really hinges on one’s adeptness with language and prompts. To really use AI effectively and creatively, you have to have a vision and intention and goals and objectives and see a bigger picture. and be able to express in detail what you want to do. you have to be good at language and communication. You also have to learn to communicate in ways that the technology “wants you to.”
Like it’s always been within the arts, or any pursuit of human advancement.
This is a remarkable time. I refer to “us,” the population that lived before AI, as “the analogs.” I feel like we’re the last of the analogs.
And we have a special role to play, and establishing safeguards, and values and ethics into the use in application of AI technologies.
I know I myself am very concerned about the ethics around using the technology, and I know I want to work towards instituting a safe and productive path forward with AI technology.
we’re going to experience a lot of behavior modification. It’s also going to present new challenges to parents and children. Being confronted with hyper realistic, depictions of reality.
If human beings weren’t so innately selfish and opportunistic and power and money driven, I would be optimistic about a positive outcome for us. I’m not confident in that, but it’s not going to stop me from personally trying to be the best person to make the world the best place it can be with the time I have left in life.
